Job Title: Network Test Engineer/SOS Engineer
Division:             Software & Engineering

Applicants must be a US citizen and possess a US DOD Top Secret with Full Scope Poly level security clearance. 






Computer network architects

  • Create plans and layouts for data communication networks
  • Present plans to management and explain why they are in the organization’s best interest to pursue them
  • Consider information security when designing networks
  • Upgrade hardware, such as routers or adaptors, and software, such as network drivers, as needed to support computer networks
  • Research new networking technologies to determine what would best support their organization in the future

Computer network architects, or network engineers, work with their organization’s Program Manager and /or government to predict where the organization will most need new networks. Planning new networks and work with engineers such as computer hardware engineers who help build the network a network architect has designed. Managed staff working in network administration or with other information technology (IT) systems.

Create DoDAF models to predict future network needs by analyzing current data traffic and estimating how growth will affect the network. Keep up to date on new hardware and software technology and test how it can improve network performance. In addition, work closely with our cyber security when it involves network vulnerabilities arise, implement security patches or other countermeasures.



Responsible for providing a structured approach to design and development decisions based on established requirements, using DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) processes

  • Responsible for translating operational requirements into detailed software/system requirements
  • Developing and modifying DODAF Viewpoints using COTS software tools
  • Must have knowledge of distributed systems, and issues regarding database replication and distribution for distributed systems
  • Provide technical direction to design and development teams, and monitoring progress and productivity through the use of metrics
  • Understand the Army Technical Architecture guidelines
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug mission critical software source code using modern software development languages and tools, such as java
  • Work independently as a contributing member of Agile Sprint Team
  • Support creation and updating of all relevant documentation and specifications for design, development and testing
  • Identify potential roadblocks and develop around them
  • Plan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics
  • Develop maintainable code that matches specifications
  • Participate in Design Reviews, Sprint Planning, estimating, Release Planning, demonstrations and retrospectives
  • Perform unit testing of code, including manipulation of data for analysis of system requirements
  • Other duties as required


  • Experience in Java/J2EE technologies
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and SOAP based web service technologies, including WSDL, JAX-WS, JAX-RPC, XML, XSD, and XSLT
  • Experience with Objected Oriented Analysis, Design and Programming
  • Experience designing and building web services, including REST-based services
  • Experience developing applications using network sockets
  • Experience serializing data structures using JSON or SML for communication with web clients
  • Experience using pub/sub message queues, such as 0MQ
  • Experience with automated unit test and test driven development concepts, tools, and languages
  • Able to multi-task, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance
  • US Citizenship is required

 Educational Requirements:

A master's degree in the specialized field plus a minimum of 7 years of applicable experience; or, a bachelor's degree in the specialized field plus 13 years of applicable experience; or, a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of specialized experience.

Standard Qualification Applies Plus

Shall have thorough and proficient applicable knowledge of networks and tactical networks, have thorough and working knowledge of system(s) and application in tactical networks, shall understand, develop, and execute test network threads in lab and field environments, shall document thread design logically easy to understand, shall be able to document threads in a visual format using applicable software. Shall produce clear and concise report(s) on results obtained.
